From 16 to 18 April we’re welcoming a group of 16 young people to gain insight into banking. The three-day workshop is part of the Sutton Trust’s “Pathways to Banking and Finance” programme that looks to inspire and support students to explore a range of careers in banking and finance, following research by the Sutton Trust that showed the top echelons of the professions are drawn from a narrow range of social backgrounds.
At NatWest Markets, we want to make our career programmes accessible to candidates of all backgrounds, which makes the Sutton Trust an ideal partner: “The Sutton Trust focuses on combating educational inequality so that young people are given the chance to fulfil their potential, regardless of their family background, school or where they live. The trust’s mission is at the heart of our Diversity & Inclusion agenda, and we want to inspire young people to consider a career in an industry that may have appeared out of reach,” comments Julia Daffy, Early Career Programme Manager at NatWest Markets.
The 16 students will get the chance to learn about different jobs within banking, speak to NWM staff about their roles, careers and experiences and will receive coaching and the opportunity to network. “We’ll also talk with our guests about the many routes how young people can join us, such as our apprenticeships, internships and graduate programmes,” Julia points out.
Apprenticeship applications open again in September so watch this space.
